The Buffalo Sabers will once again play in their own turf for the fifth time in a six home game stretch when the Ottawa Senators visit them on November 5. For those who want to bet NHL odds on this game, it is important to dissect the statistics of both teams so far to get an idea on who has the upper hand.

The first thing to realize in this game is that the Buffalo Sabres are in a bad spot right now. They’ve lost their last two games against the Florida Panthers and Philadelphia Flyers. Both losses came at two goals to three in favor of the Sabres’ opponent. This is a bad situation for the Buffalo skaters because momentum isn’t on their side riding into their November 5 game against the Ottawa Senators. Momentum is important when you want to bet NHL odds.

The Senators however, are doing pretty well. They have won four straight games against the Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, Florida Panthers, and Carolina Hurricanes. However they lost their last game against the Boston Bruins 3 goals to 5.
In comparison, the Buffalo Sabres have only won a single game in their last 5 games; this was against the Columbus Blue Jackets. They lost two straight both against the Tampa Bay Lightning; one of those games the Sabres weren’t even able to score a goal.
So in terms of momentum, it is easy to see that the Ottawa Senators have this game in hand. When you want to put your money on the safe side, then bet NHL odds on the Senators for this coming game. However, if you want to get a bit more money, you might be thinking of risking it and going for the Sabres.

It is a common tactic in betting against the odds in hopes of getting more money. But when it comes to bet NHL odds, you can’t just go about and putting your money on the underdog unless you want to run out of cash. This tactic is only advisable when the other team still has a good chance of prevailing over the other team. In this case, the Sabres are really facing a tough mountain to climb. Aside from good goalkeeping and a solid forward, they have nothing else to rely on coming into this game.

The Ottawa Senators on the other hand might have hit a speed bump, but they are on a roll. They’ve played good hockey over the past couple of weeks and they are showing their determination on the ice.

The fact of the matter is, the Senators have the too much of an advantage on this game that betting on the Sabres isn’t a good choice right now. It is best to go with Ottawa winning this game. When it comes to bet NHL odds, sometimes it pays to just be careful and not go greedy. Take time to analyze the situation carefully before making any rash decisions so that you avoid losing a lot of money.

It’s another hockey betting week and facing on the ice next will be the Calgary Flames and the Detroit Red Wings. Detroit will be playing the home court advantage in this match, making them the early favorite. But other than the home court advantage, there are a couple more factors that have ultimately affected the odds in this match.

Total Number of Wins Affect the Odds

With the several occasions that these two teams have met on the ice, Detroit has had the most number of wins at 46 compared to the 28 of the other team. Average points per game for Detroit, if Detroit is the home team, is 2.8 while Calgary has 2.4. Further, if Detroit is on the road, the team gets an average of 3.5 points while the home team, the Calgary, gets 2.5. So if we lay down the facts this way, it is clear that the total number of wins for the Calgary-Detroit games affect the point spreadsheet for the game this Thursday, November 3, 2011.

But other than the occasional clashes, both teams have had plenty of practice playing against the other games in the NHL. Calgary has played a total of 92 games so far and has won in 45 of them. But Detroit has had more practice and exposure with 104 games with 60 wins. It is unsure whether the amount of exposure they got affected the hockey betting decision of enthusiasts but for sure, the scores did.

Who’s out with injuries?

The strength of each team relies heavily on its players so having a good player on the bench due to injuries is going to affect the over-all team performance pretty bad. Hockey betting enthusiasts who would like to put their money on the Calgary will not be happy with the fact that both Mikael Backlund and Brett Carson are out indefinitely. Backlund has sustained a hand injury while Brett Carson is still nursing a back injury.

On the other hand, Jan Mursak of Detroit is out indefinitely due to a broken ankle. Jan Mursak is one of Detroit’s key players in terms of offense so his absence will surely create a gaping hole in the team’s offensive play.

At present, Calgary is at the 7th spot when it comes to defense while Detroit is at the 19th. So for the Calgary to win their upcoming match, they have to work on their offense more than their defense. This is because Detroit’s weakness is in defense so they have to push them back with a terrific offensive play.

Hockey betting predictions are not exact science because they are only based on the teams’ statistics. The level of preparation each team has will also affect how long they will play during the game. Granted that this will be in an arena where the Detroit is so familiar with does not eliminate the possibility that Calgary might still win if they study their game plan and attack where it will hurt their opponent the most.

If you want to make it to the game on Thursday, don’t forget to start placing your bets today. The hockey betting decision today could break the banks tomorrow.

It seems like the Washington Capitals have successfully marked their names on every ice they play as they come out as winner of seven consecutive games. Winning has become a habit for this team but will the Edmonton Oilers finally burst their bubble this October 27? The Oilers have just come out with a 2-3 win over their long-time rival, the Vancouver Canucks, and they have been showing nothing but one of the best game plans in this NHL season. Right now, betters are flocking every known avenue to play their bets before the big game. Some bet hockey online while others go to physical betting stations. No matter how you place your bets, the records will remain the same. Let’s take a look at the likelihood of each team to come home victorious tomorrow.

Will Hopkins lead the Oilers to Victory?

The strength of the Oilers relies heavily on their star player, Ryan Nuget-Hopkins, who took center stage when the team made him the number one pick in the NHL draft. Hopkins may be a rookie for this team but his raw skill as an ice hockey player could lead the Oilers to the top spot in this NHL season. He has already proven his skills in the league when he bagged the BC Minor Hockey Player of the Year in 2008.

Other than the presence of a top player like Hopkins under their hood, the Oilers currently stand at the higher top ranks for this season with a record of 4-2-2. So that makes the odds in their advantage with a 1:2 ratio for victory. On top of that, this is going to be a home court advantage since it will be their ice and their fan base. So the question on whether all these factors will converge and used to the team’s advantage remain to be known tomorrow.

The team’s keeper, Nikolai Khabibulin, has also played really well for the past three games. It was his stellar goaltending that stopped 35 of 37 shots, which led the Oilers to win their match against the Canucks. If Khabibulin and Hopkins continue this great teamwork, the Oilers could win again against a strong team like the Washington Capitals. So if you want to go with the crowd favorites, bet hockey online for the Oilers.

Will the Washington Capitals Beat the Odds?

Despite the strong team members that the Oilers are made of, the Capitals may just have what it takes to win the upcoming match. It is noteworthy that the Capitals earned the President’s Trophy because they had the best record during the regular season. Although they lost to the Montreal Canadiens in the first round of the Stanley Cup, they are expected to make a huge comeback. The team has learned its lesson and has had plenty of time to perfect their gameplan.

The Capitals is lead by top players Alexander Ovechkin, winner of the numerous awards like the Calder Memorial Trophy, Art Ross Trophy, Rocket Richard Trophy and the Hart Trophy. So it would be understandable that if you bet hockey online, you would go for the Capitals because of the presence of such a great player.

The nice thing about being able to bet hockey online is that it encompasses physical boundaries. Bettors from across the globe can participate because the Internet has become a common ground. Unlike the traditional means of actually meeting up to place bets, online betting is much more preferred because of its safety and convenience.

It’s the time of the week once again to try to change the status of your bank account. If you bet hockey online for the upcoming game between the Washington Capitals and the Edmonton Oilers, don’t forget to read the odds right. Good luck!

This coming Saturday will feature a good hockey game when the Vancouver Canucks meet for the first time this season the Edmonton Oilers at the Rexall Place in Edmonton, AB. The Oilers have home ice advantage in this game which is always an important fact to consider when you want to bet on hockey. Playing at home is always better for any player. From the fan support to being familiar with every nook and cranny of their own ice, hockey players usually play better when they are at home. So that is point 1 for the Oilers on this game.

But, with the heart of the Canuck, the skaters from Vancouver are no pushovers. Yes it is the home of the Oilers, but that will not stop the Canucks from trying their best to secure a win on the road. The advantage that they have is that since the season started early this month, the Vancouver Canucks have played 3 games already compared to the 1 game the Oilers have played.
If you want to bet on hockey, you need to consider all the details. Gather as much facts and use that in predicting the best move in your betting career. One of these factors is the number of games played by a team during the current season. The more games on team has played means a good advantage especially during the early parts of the season. This is because that team has had more time to gel and get into the rhythm of the season. Since the Canucks have played more games, they are much more comfortable back in the ice compared to the Oilers.

So far, the Vancouver Canucks have won 1 game, lost another, and went into overtime in their 3rd game. The Oilers on the other hand have won their first and only game so far by a single goal.

If you want to bet on hockey, you need to know the odds. So far with the given facts about both teams, bookkeepers have placed the Vancouver Canucks as the favorite to win their game against the Edmonton Oilers this coming Saturday. The odds are 4 to 1 in favor of the Canucks.

That being said, the safest way to bet on hockey is to go with the team which has the higher chance of getting the W. But the problem with this strategy is that you get to earn less money if the team does win. If you want more rewards, then you need to put more on the line. You need to bet on the underdog.

Although placing your money on the team that has the least amount of winning is a good strategy as well, it is not advisable for this particular matchup. The odds and statistics simply show that the Canucks have a real good chance to outplay the Oilers. So when you want to bet on hockey with this game, it is ideal to go with the Canucks. The pay will be lower, but that’s better than ending up with nothing in the end.

The Calgary Flames haven’t had the best start in the NHL. As a matter of fact, they have lost their first two games this season which makes them a volatile underdog when it comes to hockey betting. This Oct 13, they will have to face the Montreal Canadiens. This is a tough match that they should not overlook especially considering their slow start this season. But, after that matchup, the skaters of Calgary will have to visit the Air Canada Centre to face-off against the Toronto Maple Leafs. This will not be an easy match for them to say the least.

The Toronto Maple Leafs has lost their season opener this year. But they bounced back against the Montreal Canadiens with 2 goals to none. They also won their next game by one goal. With a record of 2-1, the Maple Leafs isn’t really looking to be the best team when it comes to hockey betting. However, with the win-loss record, they are looking good to take home the win this October 15 against the Calgary Flames.

Basing on the win-loss record, the Toronto hockey franchise obviously has the advantage coming into this Saturday’s game. But that’s not all they have on their side. The Maple Leafs also has the advantage of home ice. As any hockey player and fan would attest, having this advantage is huge. Simply put, it greatly increases the morale of the players due to fan support. At the same time, they feel more comfortable playing in their own home instead of the opposing team’s ice. And it is no secret that when it comes to hockey betting, this is always considered when creating the odds.

That being said, bookkeepers of bets have placed the odds on this matchup at 73/100 in favor of the Toronto Maple Leafs. All the basic facts and statistics considered, they have the biggest chance of winning this game. Tangible data shows that they are the better team and they are in a better situation to win. They’ve got the momentum going on, they have home ice advantage, and the Calgary Flames have not played very well over the past week. But, it is important to remember that in hockey betting, you can’t always be too sure in the outcome.

Although the odds show that the Maple Leafs will win this coming Saturday, it isn’t set in stone. When you consider some of the intangible data in the mix, you will see that the Flames can still pull out the win. The fact that they have lost two games in a row simply makes them hungrier for that W. At the same time, if they win their game on October 13, their psychological mindset will greatly change and their confidence will soar which is always a huge help when it comes to these games.

Hockey betting isn’t automatically defined by the odds. The underdog team will always have the chance to win the game. And, this has the potential to generate more money for you.

Even though this hockey team undergoes rebuilding, the Ottawa Senators are now back as they try to get into the playoffs for this 2011-12 NHL season.

In the past 18 months, general manager Bryan Murray has made several additions to the team. Among them are defenseman Tim Conboy, left winger Nikita Filatov and right winger Mark Parrish. Conboy, for instance, was able to get into the playoffs in the past season. He scored two points with one goal and one assist for the Portland Pirates.

The team houses several top scorers including right winger Daniel Alfredsson, centerman Jason Spezza and defenseman Chris Phillips. During the regular season, Alfredsson was able to score 31 points with 14 goals and 17 assists. This 38-year-old player is expected to reach over 40 points with about 20 goals and more than 25 assists for this 2011-12 NHL season. Meanwhile, Spezza is expected to score nearly 70 points with more than 29 goals for the upcoming season. In the last season, Spezza recorded 57 points with 21 goals and 35 assists.

When it comes to offense, another player to perform better this year is left-winger Milan Michalek. The 26-year-old Michalek has been with the Senators for a couple of seasons now and contributed 30 points to the team with 18 goals and 15 assists during the regular season.

On the defense side, veteran defenseman Sergei Gonchar is expected to contribute more for this year’s NHL season. In the 2010-11 season, this 37-year-od player scored 27 points with seven goals and 20 assists. Gonchar is expected to hit 30 points this year with about 10 goals.

For sure, Senators’ fans will look forward to how goaltenders Craig Anderson and Alex Auld will perform this upcoming season. In the past season, Anderson had a save percentage of 0.939 with 2.05 goals against average. He is expected to hit a GAA of 2.5 with a save percentage that is lower than he recorded last year.

The fans are also counting on the abilities of defenseman Erik Karlsson. This 21-year-old player contributed 45 points for the Senators with 13 goals and 32 assists during the regular season. In his third year, Karlsson is expected to get better this year. After this 2011-12 season, Karlsson will become a restricted free agent. Some sports enthusiasts expect the Ottawa Senators to lock him up a long-term contract after this season.

Another promising player who is expected to do better and complete this upcoming season is right winger Bobby Butler. This 24-year-old player contributed 21 points to the team with 10 goals and 11 assists during the regular season.

Moreover, the Senators and their fans welcome the appointment of Paul McLean, assistant coach of Detroit Red Wings, as head coach. McLean is expected to use his coaching experience to get the team mixed with experienced and unproven players into the playoffs this season.

After missing the playoffs last season, the Senators should heed their fans’ call, which is to prioritize getting a spot in the playoffs with a focus on player development.

Even if the Toronto Maple Leafs didn’t qualify for the playoffs during the 2010-2011 Stanley Cup Championships, the Leafs are now back after a long summer to start its training camp.

In this 2011-2012 NHL season, the Leafs let go of goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere, defenseman Brett Lebda and centerman Tim Brent, the team made some tweaks by acquiring centermen Tim Connolly, Matthew Lombardi and Joe Colborne, as well as defenseman Cody Franson.

The Leafs made news recently after the long summer negotiation over the extension of defenseman Luke Schenn has finally came to an end. The 21-year-old Schenn, who scored 5 goals and 22 points last season, signed a five-year extension deal with the Maple Leafs. Although head coach Ron Wilson doesn’t expect Schenn to make dramatic changes for this year’s season, he just wants Schenn to generate higher offensive numbers.

On the coaching bench, Wilson made some changes to his coaching staff. As per the instruction of general manager Brian Burke, Wilson replaced his coaching assistants Tim Hunter and Keith Acton with Scott Gordon and Greg Cronin.

Maple Leafs fans will surely expect much from the rapid pace of 23-year-old goaltender James Reimer. Aside from Leafs’ fan base, the whole team and Burke will be relying on Reimer to score more goals for this year’s NHL season. Reimer, who is now in his sophomore year, put up a 20-10-5 record and scored 2.60 goals against average last year. However, some sports enthusiasts are asking whether Reimer will fall into the sophomore curse for the 2011-2012 season.

With too much weight on his shoulders, Reimer will surely need the help of Maple Leafs back-up goaltender Jonas Gustavsson to get the team to qualify for this year’s NHL playoffs. In the past season, Gustavsson scored 3.29 goals against average with a save percentage of .890.

This year’s NHL season will see the return of right winger Colton Douglas Orr and centerman Lombardi. Orr and Lombardi both suffered from concussions from last season and are expected to score higher numbers this year. Although Orr already has secured clearance to play, Lombardi hasn’t been cleared by doctors to play for contact. Burke has great expectations on Lombardi’s speed and believes that the 29-year-old centerman, who only played two games for the Nashville Predators in the past season, is a great addition to the team’s forward group. Also when it comes to Maple Leafs powerplay for this season, Franson, Connolly and defenseman John-Michael Liles are expected to hit the mark. For Leafs’ penalty killers, Connolly and centerman Philippie Dupuis appear to be good options.

Today’s season, the Maple Leafs team is jam-packed with a lot of centermen and defensemen, and Wilson will surely expect a lot from them. Wilson is now back with a priority to get the team into the playoffs for the first time in seven seasons this year.

Maple Leafs’ fans will definitely want to watch out whether forward Nazem Kadri would be given a greater role in the team or defenseman Dion Phaneuf would be able to score double-digit goals in this upcoming NHL season.

Even though Montreal Canadiens are expected to play in this 2011-2012 Stanley Cup Championship without defensemen Roman Hamrlik, James Wisniewski and Paul Mara, the team is back with a vengeance after acquiring Slovak goaltender Peter Budaj and 32-year-old right winger Eric Cole in this NHL season.

Despite having only a couple of acquisitions for this 2011 season, the Habs are still expected to make the playoffs and be a threat to other teams in the league as Randy Cunneyworth and Randy Ladouceur join defensive-minded head coach Jacques Martin in the Habs’ bench as his assistant coaches.

The team only got the No. 23 spot in the NHL standings in terms of offense during the 2010-2011 season, but the Habs will surely improve with the help of 24-year-old Price, who is expected to surpass the total of 72 games he played during the last year’s season.

The Canadiens’ entry into the playoffs will depend on the performance of captain Brian Gionta, who scored 29 goals with 17 assists, and his alternative captains of Hal Gill and Andrei Markov. 32-year-old Markov, who only played 7 games during the 2010-11 season, is expected to boost his points this NHL season even if he just underwent surgery last December due to knee injury after colliding with Eric Staal, Carolina Hurricanes’ captain.

Habs’ fans will expect much from the performance of Scott Gomez for this NHL season. During the 2010-2011 season, the 31-year-old centerman scored 38 points with 7 goals and 31 assists. Gomez is expected to generate points this year as he gains more luck from his new number, which he changed from 91 to 11 during the start of last year’s season.

Backed with these top players and awesome defense, the Habs will play game one against Toronto Maple Leafs as the NHL season starts on October 6. Three days after the launch of this year’s season, the Canadiens also will have to compete with the Winnipeg Jets at the MTC arena in Winnipeg.

Fans of Habs will definitely watch game number 10 as the hockey team meets last year’s Stanley Cup Champions, the Boston Bruins. Competing with another member of the Northern Division of the NHL’s Eastern Conference, this game is expected to be memorable. Canadiens’ fans will surely recall the severe head injuries suffered by Max Pacioretty after being hit by Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara. Pacioretty, who generated 11 goals for the team prior to his injury, believes that he is capable of building off last year’s season. This is the game followers of Boston Bruins will look forward to as they brace themselves for another interesting play of their Stanley Cup champions last year.

Another exciting game Habs fans will surely watch out for this season is the team’s match with Vancouver Canucks, the recipient of the Presidents’ Trophy for completing the season with the most number of points. Even if the Canucks lost to Boston Bruins in game 7 during last year’s finals, Canadiens should expect a tough match against them as they work to get on the top in the NHL standings.
